This gallery is a celebration of the special bond created between Under One Sky and Punjab. As the saying goes “In times of crisis strangers become friends”. Under One Sky and Punjab had no relationship before the pandemic but they came together to serve humanity at a time when society at large was staying at home.
Each portrait in this collection currently has a place on restaurant’s walls in Covent Garden, London.
UNDER ONE SKY
Under One Sky (UOS) is a volunteer-led initiative which supports people living on the streets of London, Brighton and Cambridge through friendship, compassion, and the distribution of essential supplies.
UOS was founded in 2012 and has since grown organically to a community of more than 1,000 volunteers. In April 2020, in direct response to the Covid-19 crisis, our emergency volunteer teams began providing support (food, drinks, clothing and more) for up to 600 homeless friends daily. Since the start of the pandemic the Skywalkers have served our homeless friends more than 75,000 times. See our work in action here.
The entire Covid-19 emergency operation was run out of Punjab and as a result the restaurant became a home, heart and safe haven for the hundreds of Skywalkers who took part in the operation.
Punjab RESTAURANT

Punjab is the oldest North Indian restaurant in the UK.
Launched in 1946 and located in the heart of Covent Garden, the restaurant is still owned and run by the same family, now in its fourth generation and is a great addition to the Covent Garden.
A lot of the restaurant's history can be seen on its walls. Framed receipts, family portraits, historic Punjabi figures and images of the diners who have tasted our distinctive food through the ages. The portrait of the volunteers have now been added to this photographic history.
